In 1981 a group of Canadian Ham Radio operators formed the
 
"Rete - Eco d'Oltre Mare"
 
to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Guglielmo Marconi's first wireless transmission.  The objective was to establish and maintain a Net primarily linking Canada and Italy.  Also, to promote a reciprocity agreement for third party communications via land telephone lines.

Establishing contacts

Here is a summary of exchanges stemming from the contacts established and the operation of the Net.  The invitation notice and two replies (Moriello) and (Poliseno).  The message sent to the Italian Ambassador in support of establishing a third party agreement between Canada and Italy for Ham Radio communications.
